Find yourself, Flourish in your own way

Pregnancy and postpartum can come with a lot of unexpected questions and emotions. I’m Clare, a perinatal therapist and mom in Lafayette, CO working with women who are asking themselves “what the heck is happening to me?” I am here to support through the identity shifts, anxious thoughts, down days, and traumatic experiences that can come with becoming a mom. Therapy with me is real, raw, and a place to be fully honest about what you are experiencing.

My Approach

What we do together depends on what you actually need and that can change. Sometimes we're digging into something that happened years ago and finally making sense of it. Sometimes we're figuring out what you even want your life to look like. Sometimes you just need someone to think through something with you without being told what to do.

Part of what I do is help you gain understanding what may be happening in your body and mind. We’ll talk about your nervous system, your brain and for new moms - matrescence (holistic changes that happen with becoming a mother). I do this because sometimes one of the most powerful things can be realizing that what you’re experiencing makes complete sense, that there is nothing “wrong” with you, and your body is actually just doing it’s job at keeping you safe.

I draw from EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help your brain process the hard stuff it’s been stuck on. IFS (Internal Family Systems) to make sense of “parts” of yourself that feel constantly at war with each other. ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to help you stop fighting your own thoughts and actually start moving towards what matters to you. And DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) to learn skills that help with emotional regulation, communication, and distress tolerance. Therapy is not a “one size fits all” thing so my approach changes depending on the person in front of me and their goals.
